Privacy and personal data
This site offers a free check of a business’s Google profile and receives contact requests. Here we explain what data we read and ask for, what we use it for, who receives it, and how you can see, correct or delete it.
Who is responsible for your data
Semilla de Árbol S.A., company ID (cédula jurídica) 3-101-791338, domiciled in San Pedro de Montes de Oca, San José, Costa Rica, is responsible for the database of the requests this site receives. To see, correct or delete your data, write to us through the contact form.
What the free check reads
The check uses public information only. We never ask for access to your Google account or profile.
- From Google Maps (Google’s Places API): the name, address, type of business, whether it is open, how many photos Google shows and who uploaded them, the website, the opening hours, the rating and the number of reviews. We do not read the text of the reviews.
- From the business’s website, if it has one: a single visit to the home page, the way a phone opens it, to see whether it shows a booking or WhatsApp button and the Google rating at the top.
How long we keep what the check reads
We do not keep what Google returns: the name, photos, hours and rating are asked from Google at each check and are not kept in our database. We keep only the place’s identifier on Google (place ID), as the Google Maps Platform terms allow, and, for 7 days, which identifier each typed search found, so we do not search it twice. Google Maps data is shown with the attribution “Google Maps” and a link to the profile on Google Maps.
To limit use, we count how many checks and requests arrive each day from the same connection. For that we do not store the IP address: we store a code that cannot be reversed, and delete it the next day. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, records technical data of each visit (such as the IP address) in its operating logs, which are deleted after a few days.
To learn which parts of the site work, we count steps (a visit, a check, a result, a request) with the source of the visit, such as “google” or “whatsapp”. That count keeps no personal data: no IP address, no browser, no cookies, not the business checked.
What data we ask for
We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your contact details: name, WhatsApp number or email address.
- Your business name and town, if you typed them, and the place’s identifier on Google, when you ask for the full plan.
- The message you write, if you write one.
- Visit data: the page you sent the form from, where you came to the site from, and the country you connected from.
What we use it for
To send you the full plan for your profile or answer your message, and to contact you about it. Nothing else: we do not sell it, use it for advertising or add it to mailing lists.
Who receives it
Nobody outside the company. These technical providers process it so the site works: Cloudflare, which hosts the site and the database and, with Turnstile, checks that a person is using the check; Resend, which sends the internal notice of each request; and Google, which answers the Google Maps query (there it receives only the name or the identifier of the business being searched, and handles it under its Privacy Policy, https://policies.google.com/privacy) and also hosts the company’s email, where that internal notice with your contact details arrives. None of them uses it for anything else.
Your consent
The form asks for your express permission before it keeps your data. Without it, we keep nothing. You can withdraw it at any time, as explained below.
How long we keep your data
We keep each request for up to 24 months after we receive it, to follow up. Then we delete it, or sooner if you ask.
How to see, correct or delete your data
Write to us through the contact form and say what you need: see your data, correct it, delete it or withdraw your consent. Use the same WhatsApp number or email as your request, so we can confirm it is you. We answer within 5 business days at most.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can contact Costa Rica’s data protection agency, the Agencia de Protección de Datos de los Habitantes (Prodhab).
